Frank Herbert is mostly famous for his Dune series of 6 books. Through science fiction, he explored complex ideas involving philosophy, politics, religion, pyschology and ecology that are still very relevant today.

Biography
Franklin Patrick Herbert Jr was born in October 8th, 1920, in Whashington. He died in February 11th, 1986 at the age of 66.
- 1939 He graduated from a High School in Oregon and, lying about his age, got his first newspaper job
- 1940 He married a first time, had a daughter and divorced in 1945
- 1945 Attending the University of Washington, he met his second wife in a creative writing class
- 1946 They got married and had two sons in 1947 and 1951
- 1949 He never graduated from the University and moved to California
- 1952 He published his first science fiction story, Looking for something
- 1974 His wife underwent an operation for cancer and died 10 years later
- 1984 Death of his second wife
- 1985 Herbert married his third wife
- 1986 He dies of a massive pulmonary embolism following a surgery for pancreatic cancer
